Talks on my Metal Detecting finds to raise money for the Alzeihmers Diesease Society

Hello and welcome to my website.

I intend this website primarily to publicise my fund raisng talks - however I am sure it will also contain a few bits and pieces about my family, my pets and some things that make me laugh as well. I will also include some links to some interesting websites as well. To coin one of my favourite phrases - it will be a veritable cornucopia of useful, (and useless), information !

Without further adue, I feel that I must tell you about my talks. I started presenting my talks about two years ago now, intially to a pensioners group in my village, I enjoyed the experiance of telling people about my finds, and the collection that I held afterwards also generated some cash for the Alzeihmers Disease Society. The reason that I support this charity is that both my mother and my aunt were victims of this terrible disease and this is my way of givng a bit back to what I believe is a very worthwhile cause.

This got me thinking and I decided that it would be a good idea to do some more talks and to raise some more money for my chosen charity. Which subsquently lead onto me getting in touch with The Essex Womens Institute head office and investigating the process of becoming a "registered speaker" for the organisation, and being published in their "speakers book" - that the various W.I.s use as a point of referance for booking speakers like myself. I also learnt after speaking to the W.I. head office that their was an audition process in place for prospective speakers, and a waiting list for an audition of approxiamately 2 years !

The day eventully arrived and I turned up at Little Baddow village expecting to present my talk to 3 or 4 W.I. committe members. This was not the case, when I entered the hall I was contfronted with row upon row of lovely ladies ! Who I subsquently learnt were the "advance guard" from various branches from all over Essex, and had been sent by their members to nab any good speakers prior to them be entered into the speakers book.

Fortunately I passed the audition with flying colours and started receiving phone calls requesting bookings almost immediately, (obviously the advance guard liked what they saw). Since then I havn't looked back, and have raised almost £500 for my chosen charity.
